Welcome!

We have been "Honoring our Pioneer Forefathers in St. George and Washington City since 1933" — yes, for 92 years, with our chapter organized in its current form since 1989! We are one of 46 local chapter organizations and have been recognized annually with the "Chapter in Excellence" award.

Membership is open to sons (descendants) of Utah pioneers or to those men (and their wives) who just have an interest in promoting and honoring local pioneer heritage. We are actively engaged in Washington City Cotton Days, St. George City Dixie Days and local historical treks. We share pioneer histories and award approximately $15,000 dollars annually to local high school seniors and 2nd grade students.

You can also follow our Facebook page at Cotton Mission Chapter of Sons of Utah Pioneers. We would love to have you join us!

Opportunities to Serve

Opportunities to Serve

Here are a couple of great ways to serve the community in a way that supports the mission of SUP:

  1. Santa Clara Museum Front Desk.  Charlie Clayton is desperate for help at the Santa Clara History Museum. He has very little time off as he single-handedly staffs the museum which is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays. He is asking for a few volunteers who would be willing to sit at the front desk for three hours a few times a year. Hours are 1pm to 4pm Tuesdays and 11am to 2pm Saturdays. He needs help on these dates:

    May 2 and 30, 2017

    August 1 and 29, 2017

    October 3 and 31, 2017

Leave message for Charlie at the museum 879-5297

  2. Adopt a Monument.  Charles Topham reminds us that this is our month to check on our Adopt-a-Monument assignments. He thanks all those who are helping to maintain and check on these wonderful reminders of our past. Special thanks to Doug Simkins for his devoted efforts at the Hebron Cemetery, where he has installed new directional signs.
