Chapter Members Bring History to School Kids at Annual Cotton Days Festival

Once again our Cotton Mission Chapter display at the annual Washington Cotton Days was a big hit with area school kids. Busload after busload unloaded while SUP and DUP members shared pioneer stories and let the kids examine pioneer implements. They learned how pioneers used a horsehair rope to ward off snakes at night, what a flour sifter is for, and even got to pull a handcart. Thanks to Dean Terry for bringing his antique wagon collection. It was the first time some of the kids had seen a stage coach. Some thought it was a fire engine! Our gratitude to chairman Robin Davis and the many volunteers who donated time to share our pioneer legacy with a new generation.
